Tressviae is a comparatively young settlement. Named after the three roads that come together within it, it has long been used a stopover from people traveling from Ventoso or Raveno to Primus. While it did benefit from its trade, Raveno frequently took excessive cuts, partly for greed, partly to keep the town in line. Tressviae wouldn't come to its own until after Primus fell, where the post-Imperial cities struggled to get back on their feet.
In the wake of Primus' fall, standing armies couldn't be maintained. Yet there were foes to fight, Maelim warbands, eager to punish the Cradlelands for what Primus did, frequently assailed the towns and cities. When one of these marauding warbands attacked Tressviae, the people begged Raveno for help. But Raveno was uncaring for their plight. Angered, descendants of the legionnaires, led by a man named Stephanos, took up arms and drove the Maelim away. These soldiers would go on to found the Guardia Grifone, the first of many compagnia the Cradlelands and the wider world would see.
They turned Tressviae into their base of operations. As the success of the Guardia grew, so did the wealth and prestige of Tressviae. Inch by inch, the town grew in power, its symbiotic relationship with the Guardia indomitable. By the present, Tressviae is now the second most powerful town in the Cradlelands, and is chaffing under the rulership of Raveno. While Raveno wishes to crush this upstart before they get too powerful.
The situation is tense, for Raveno still has more money, and that gives them power. All it would take is one wrong move to make the two most powerful cities in the Cradlelands fight each other. And there are a lot of powerful enemies who would benefit greatly from such a civil war...
