The Cradlelands are the birth place of humanity*. All humans can trace their ancestors to these fertile plains. After Godfall, humans scattered from this ancient heartland and explored all areas of the Mortal Realms.
The Cradlelands maintain an immensely important part in the affairs of the world. It is a temperate domain in a supremely strong position. All trade must eventually pass through the roads of the Cradlelands. Raveno also benefits from one of the few river crossings between the Inner and Outer Oceans. The Cradlelands also have notable exports, grains, fruits from the orchards. There are mines in the nearby mountains and in the caves of Raveno. They can sell these wares in all directions, to maximize their reach even further.
The result of this is a land of riches and history, and a domain very desirable to own. For to rule this land is to rule all trade and it would give a nefarious power the ability to spilt the Realms of Humanity in half. Over the years, Maelim, Daemons, and Horrorlim have assailed the Cradlelands, to varying degrees of success. But sooner or later, humanity always wins. For 1800 years, the City of Primus held considerable power, owing in part to its size and reverence of humanity's first city. But the Imperial Terror and Fall of Primus ensured total annihilation and the city remains abandoned.
Another major claim to fame of the Cradlelands is for being the birth place of the Godshards. While people from all lands become Godshards, some of the most influential Godshards of all time came from here, including Adam the first. The Island City is also located off the coast of the Cradlelands and its influence also lead to the creation of Presbia as well to hold visitors.
While the Cradlelands might not be perfect, they still remain as one of the greatest domains of the Mortal Realms.
*Though humans did exist outside the Cradlelands before the Wars in the Heavens, none survived the Godfall event that concluded those wars.
